Nowadays it is a dying art, because machine made carpets can be produced in much cheaper ways, and because fewer and fewer people aquire the skills to make a rug by hand. Kashmir carpets exist in different materials:

• Silk on Cotton
• Wool on Wool
• Staple Carpets (made of synthetic silk or merchandized cotton)

Price vary depending on the material used, the size of the rug, and the knot density – the more knots per square inch, the more plushy the feel of the carpet.
